Arvid Anderson is an artist working from his studio on Fox Island in the scenic Gig Harbor area of Puget Sound in Washington State.  Arvid works in multi media, including sculpture and monotypes.  He considers himself an experimentalist and uses various methods and materials in his monotypes to create each unique image.  He favors strong colors and landscapes influenced by the marine atmosphere of Western Washington and the dry scapes of Eastern Washington.  His wooden masks incorporate natural materials with themes indigenous to the Northwest. Arvid is active in the Peninsula Art League and the Open Studio Tour of Gig Harbor.

                        MONOTYPE
A monotype is an unique original work of art created through a combination of painting and printing techniques.  The one-of-a-kind image is developed on an unaltered flat plate using oil or water based media and transferred by hand or by a press onto another surface, usually paper.  The single image produced is the monotype and is sometimes referred to as a monoprint.

                        GYOTAKU
Gyo (fish) taku (print) is Japanese for fish print.  The actual fish is inked and printed on paper or cloth.  This is a beautiful way to record and preserve the fisherman's catch.
